Limousin cattle are a large breed but very efficient feeders. They out weigh our few crossbred Angus cattle by 200 or more lbs each while consuming the same amount of feed.

You’ll never get Prime Rib out of Limousin cattle; they just don’t put enough marbling in their meat to qualify for prime grade. However, you will get more total pounds of high quality, tender, lean meat than you will from Angus or Hereford.
Limousin has found a niche market with Angus and Hereford producers who want to add pounds to their calves. Cross either of the British breeds with Limousin and you automatically increase the pounds of meat you can produce per calf while at the same time keeping a high grade level – often Choice grade- product.
